Transitions and life are hard; going to counseling shouldn’t be!

Hi, my name is Allison, and my goal is to help each client feel comfortable, respected, and empowered to make life’s decisions. I aim to aid others in accomplishing this goal through the therapeutic development of empathetic and authentic interactions.  Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I aid those suffering from deep trauma make break throughs after years of finding no answers.  This brief and effective therapy brings healing where only pain resides and allows individuals to move toward the future rather than remaining frozen in the past.

I also have a passion for working with women, families, and children. I have extensive experience in School Counseling and aim to help children learn how to regulate and deal with everyday stresses, transitions, adolescence, friendships, bullying, and emotional wellness.  I also aim to encourage parents to be part of the healing process and help them to support their child in their journey.  My experience over the last ten years has been in working with behavioral issues, self-esteem, anxiety, attachment disorders, abuse/neglect, impulse control, relationships & connections, school issues, and group therapy.  I work in individual, group, and relationship therapy at Moore Counseling, and I look forward to working with those individuals who want to make positive changes in their lives.

One issue that is prevalent among those in the helping professions, teaching, healthcare, law, and counseling is workplace burnout, and I was a witness to this as a School Counselor.  Showing up to a 9-5 job that is high need and high stress while individuals work to remain emotionally regulated despite conflicting personalities, challenging childhood emotions, and staff frustrations causes individuals to fall into negativity as they navigate what can be perceived as a thankless job.  This viewpoint perpetuates the hurt and empathic healers lose their desire to help when we need them in the world most.  I want to encourage those in these positions find hope and set healthy boundaries to reignite their passion in caring for others again.

Miscarriage, Infertility, and Infant Loss has been another issue close to my heart as I struggled to become a mother; it was such an isolating and incredibly lonely journey.  I want to help other mothers who feel alone in their journey find peace and healing.  I have been there, and I want to support those that feel others cannot understand their journey as it is such a unique experience to each person.  There is relief in numbers, and I encourage you to let down your guard and let me help you release the pain.

I utilize a variety of therapeutic interventions to help clients meet their goals. It takes courage and vulnerability to seek help for life’s ups and downs. A professional connection can help you, as a client, build new skills and start living your best life.

Come see me today, and take that first step toward a brighter future!
